1925. At an evening ball on the normandie liner, Madame Guerlain wore a lace sheath dress, perfumed with an unknown scent, the 1st oriental created by Jacques Guerlain. The rumour of a bewitching fragrance spread from cabin to cabin, all the way to New York.

Where Parfum Initial delicately embraces the spicy warmth of the mythic Shalimar scent, new interpretation Shalimar Initial L’Eau focuses upon greenery and freshness. An overdose of citrus notes immediately lifts the composition with sparkling bergamot and orange, while an additional dose of sense-sharpening grapefruit and neroli reveals an energizing facet.

The voluptuous iris and grandiflora jasmine heart of the original is made more transparent with added green notes and precious Damascena rose. This settles into a decadent drydown of tonka bean with its succulent almond facet, and a carnal vanilla note.
