Tired, tense? A few little exercises to ease shoulder tension

Relaxation > Perfect for anyone who spends long hours in front of a computer!

It takes only 30 seconds to say farewell to tension, says Angelo. During periods of intense concentration, stress or quick repetitive motion, you'll feel tension building up. Don't wait for it to turn into pain!
Just take 30 seconds to relax your muscles with this quick and simple little exercise - it's almost instantaneous! You can do it either sitting or standing.

It involves five movements done in a three second rhythm (a slow 1, 2, 3 count), followed by a three second release.

After these stretches, loosen up your muscles with some small forward rotations, alternating your right and left shoulders as if you're rolling your shoulders

Repeat the rotations in a backwards direction

These simple movements will relax the trapezoids, loosen the pectorals and have an overall relaxing effect.

Repeat this exercise every time you feel a little tension in your shoulders, neck or upper back. If you're working in front of a computer or keyboard for long hours, I recommend this little exercise after each hour of work in order to relax the muscles and prevent tension.
