CoverGirl Spring Make-up 2009
… or getting the make-up look of the stars

We often wonder about the make-up of the actresses whose dazzling beauty fills the silver screen. In reality, there's no "secret" to it, except to have a rested face and to use good products.

When it comes to having a rested face, getting a good night's sleep goes without saying... but there are also numerous brands of radiance masks, firming masks, spray-on relaxation mists, etc.

Let's think first about foundation, the first step in beautiful make-up. Depending on whether you're 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60, your skin's texture will require a different product.

CoverGirl and Olay have partnered to create Simply Ageless Foundation — a first of its kind, anti-aging makeup that won’t settle into fine lines and wrinkles, thus making them look less noticeable and providing beautifully flawless-looking skin.

Targeted to women 35 and older, Simply Ageless helps renew the outer layer of skin to provide younger-looking skin. Combining Olay Regenerist’s serum with CoverGirl foundation expertise, Simply Ageless has been clinically shown to significantly improve the healthy look of the skin in just four weeks. It's what Ellen has adopted since becoming the company's spokeswoman.

Who would have thought of using a felt pen for lips? It's the new trend! Thanks to its innovative pencil-shaped applicator that gives you matchless precision, you'll have great runway-looking lips without the feeling of wearing lipstick. It's so light, you hardly know you have it on, it lasts for hours, and it doesn't leave a thick, sticky film on your lips. Containing no alcohol, the water-based colors penetrate the lips' outer layers rather than simply covering them. Plus, they contain conditioners like glycerine to smooth and soften lips. Available in 10 luscious hues like Everbloom Kiss, Berry Smooch, Teasing Blus and Plum Pout.. it is what Drew wears everyday, depending of her mood.

Professional make-up artist Sam Fine emphasized the radiant complexion he was going for, the eyelashes and crimson cheeks. He succeeded in creating a classic look that never goes out of style that complimented Queen Latifah's dress.

For the eyes
Sam started by shaping the eye with a golden brown shadow as well as a touch of burgundy shadow Eye Enhancers that complimented Queen's blue dress. When you're wearing a blue dress, think beyond blue or gray shadow.

Next, Sam lined her eyes with a liquid liner Line Exact and of course, applied false lashes. He fused them to her natural lashes with thick coats of mascara. He uses the new LashBlast now tinted with luxe shimmers available in black platinium, emerald, burgundy and blue, ready to match every mood.

For the face
Sam mixed the new bronzer TRUblend Microminerals with a bit of blush on the outer perimeter of Queen's face - creating "a halo of glow," says Sam. "Never apply bronzer and blush to the center, you want it all around the face."

For the lips
It was a glossy, nude shade, nicely lined and shaped. After lining, Sam used a lipstick and topped it with shimmering gloss for definition.

Bonus tip: "When wearing a bare gown, don't be afraid to take the bronzer down to the neck, chest and shoulder areas to really make it shimmer," advises Sam. Adding to Sam's advice, be careful to avoid the "floating head" look - meaning be careful to make sure that your face matches your neck!

For the Eyes
Lashes - no need to pile it on
Molly Stern: "On her lashes I put a soft coat of CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Mascara in Black Ruby"

For the Lips - dot gloss in the center for "extra pout"
Molly Stern: "I applied a thin coat of Outlast Lipstain by CoverGirl in Plum Pout. Then a sheer layer of wine lip color with a dot of CoverGirl Wetslicks AmazeMint in Plum Crazy at the center of her lip for a little extra pout. That's also what she took in her bag for touch up".  She was nominee for best actress in a supporting role for her role in Doubt.
