Hair stylist Erica Quinn explains

Everyday women’s hair is stressed and damaged by trying to achieve the latest hair trends... but what cause hair stress?

Hot showers
With the demand of a busy lifestyle, many women love to unwind after a long day with a hot shower. And while it may wash away the stress of a long day, it can also wash away important scalp oils that help to keep hair looking it’s best. The result - dry and brittle hair!

Blow drying
Most women blow dry their hair to help them get out of the house quickly in the morning or to help them achieve a sleek polished look. The heat from the blow dryer not only dries and burns the scalp but makes hair brittle.

Elastics
Messy buns or sleek ponytails need something to hold them in place, but many women don’t realize that the elastic in their hair is causing some serious damage. Elastics expand, retract, grab and pull the hair causing breakage and ripping.

Sleep
Who doesn’t love a weekend sleep in, but tossing and turning and cuddling deep down in a pillow causes friction that can break hair resulting in knots, matting, frizz and uncontrollable flyaways.

Sunglasses
While sunglasses look great and make a statement they can cause havoc on front layers or bangs. With the tendency to push the glasses up acting like a headband, nose clips and hinges can cause breakage and flyaways.

Heat
Using tools like flat irons, hot rollers, and curling irons are key to getting a professional look at home, but while the results look great the damage they leave behind can be dramatic and drastic. Using heat on your hair everyday can leave it looking dull, dry and lifeless.
