Vision and aging eyes

For your eyes only > Aging Eyes

When we talk about protection from age-related problems, what comes to mind? Anti-wrinkle creams or sunscreen? Calcium to prevent osteoporosis? Did you know that the effects of aging can also affect your vision?

According to a recent study, 14% recognized vision troubles as being major age-related health problems. It would appear that we are more concerned about wrinkles or memory-loss than we are by eye health. Fortunately, there are simple measures you can take that can protect your eyes against problems associated with aging.

Consume foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon or flax seeds. If you suspect that your diet does not contain enough, you can also take omega-3 supplements.

Wear sunglasses all year-round ... the sun's rays cause damage even in winter!

Pay careful attention to your sunglasses - dark lenses without UV protection can cause more harm than good!

Be sure to visit your optometrist for a yearly eye examination
