All about phytotherapy > Oregano (Origanum vulgare)

Make oregano your winter companion
Also called wild marjoram, oregano possess therapeutic properties, more specifically phytotherapeutic properties, that have been recognized since ancient times. Oregano essences were used by the Romans as an antispasmodic, expectorant and tonic. Dedicated to Aphrodite, oregano was an ingredient in "love potions."

Its components (thymo and carvacrol essences, tannins, glucoside, caffeine, flavonoids - antioxidants that fight free radicals) make it a good antiseptic against winter ills - colds, flus and bronchitis, since it helps clear your respiratory passages.

Lush made this soap to get people washing their hands again! Oregano has been thought to kill all manner of germs and has antimicrobial properties. Perfect for keeping hands clean without using abrasive chemical products or alcohol.

This soap was created for nurses coming into Lush stores asking for oregano soap, because they had heard it fought MRSA bacteria. 13 soap combines antibacterial rose and oregano in an antiseptic mixture of honey, geranium and soothing rose extract for clean, soft and delicately scented hands.

The best way to have clean hands is to wash them with a bar of soap. Solid soap is an alkali medium that cannot support bacterial development and which needs no plastic wrapping.
