Collagen

About one quarter of all of the protein in our body is collagen, a major structural protein, forming molecular cables that strengthen the tendons and vast, resilient sheets that support the skin and internal organs. Collagen provides structure to our bodies, protecting and supporting the softer tissues and connecting them with the skeleton.

Collagen is responsible for skin elasticity, and its degradation leads to wrinkles that accompany aging. But collagen is a protein with a high molecular weight, making it a difficult substance to deliver to the skin.
