Today’s women and men put a lot of energy into balancing family life, children, career and social life. At times it can be difficult to do everything we must do while staying on course and keeping in mind the importance of taking care of our health. And sometimes, despite our best intentions, we stray off course and fall into bad habits that can have negative impacts on our health over the medium and long term.

Whether in terms of oral health, physical exercise, nutrition or life balance, we understand the importance of making the right choices. We must have the right tools and we must do the right things to take care of our inside as well as our outside. And yet, even today, barely 15% of Canadians get 30 minutes of exercise each day!

The fact of the matter is that when we lack time or feel too hurried, we have the bad habit of postponing our yearly visit to the dentist, skipping our workout, choosing a ready-made frozen dinner, and ignoring that little inner voice telling us to slow down.

Let's Fight Bad Habits Together!

We have all heard the expression “A healthy mind in a healthy body.” How do you give your body and mind the energy needed to not only carry out your daily tasks but also for you to feel well?

In a Crest Pro-Health.research, four experts have identified the three worst habits they have observed in their respective practices which, in the long term, may cause significant harm to your health.

1. Lack of action is without a doubt enemy number one. Not having a routine for oral hygiene and care, failure to choose healthy foods every day, physical inactivity and the inability to relieve stress can compromise your health over the medium and long term.

2. Not Giving Yourself Quality Time! Even though we sometimes view routines as being boring, they are important for certain aspects of our life. A personal routine during the day that sets aside time for taking care of our oral hygiene, exercising our bodies, taking the time to eat properly and clearing our minds will help us avoid many health problems.

3. Lack of discipline is another determining factor which prevents us from taking charge of our overall health, say our experts. It's easy to make good resolutions but we must keep them in order to reap the short, medium and long term health benefits. We must therefore find our innate motivation.
