Spring 2008 Guerlain Makeup Collection

Spring 2008 Guerlain Collection

You'll find THE GUERLAIN WOMAN everywhere you least expect her. Playful, she doesn't hesitate to mix classical with contemporary styles. Cultured, she never misses the latest art exhibit, concert and new novel. Gourmet and passionate, she's a real connoisseur of fine food and drinks. She is totally alive, in every way. She works. She plays. She travels. She has brunch at the Bosco Café in Moscow, strolls along the Via Montenapoleone in Milan, shops on Avenue Montaigne in Paris, relaxes at the Park Hyatt in Tokyo, dines in London's Mayfair district… and yet, when she finds herself at the Whitney Museum in Manhattan, she's still dazzled.

Immersed in the marvellous retrospective universe of the Summer of Love, she discovers the 1970s and the fabulous psychedelic wave, Pop Art's creative rage, the wild fashions in Swinging London and the no less vibrant Paris, the riot of colours, the striking shapes, completely reinvented objects and liberating music. Neither retro nor nostalgic, this collection integrates all the best aspects of this truly Golden Age, reinterpreted just for her, by Guerlain, fully in step with her contemporary world.

She catches a glimpse of herself reflected in a glass display case. Her eyes, like a painting of light and shadow, artfully play on nuances of ash grey and bright pink. Her brilliantly shining lips, perfectly shaped and outlined, make an amazing work of art in hot pinks.

"I have always loved the seventies, the wild riot of colours and totally stunning optical effects, it's an ar tistic explosion that mixes together ultimate classics with groundbreaking new extremes. At the Whitney Museum exhibit in New York, I rediscovered the creativity of an era that continues to live on. I wanted to reference this phenomenon through our fresh spring collection… a wonderful "revival" after a long winter!" - Olivier Échaudemaison

Mixing and matching different fashion periods to heighten and glorify her beauty. That's the "style" of today's Guerlain woman. The Guerlain Woman will choose

Makeup tips from Olivier Échaudemaison
For a subtly shaded look, opt for the soft duos, arranged horizontally: Highlighter and Velvet in the upper par t of the palette, or Design and Contour in the lower part. For a bolder look, choose from the two contrasting tones, arranged ver tically: Highlighter and Design on the left,Velvet and Contour on the right.

For extreme sophistication, apply all four shades:

  • Apply shimmering Highlighter to brighten the whole eyelid.
  • Blend Velvet powder up and outwards towards the top of the eyelid.
  • Create shape and depth by applying Design powder along the crease of the eyelid.
  • Add a final touch of radiance by emphasizing the base of the upper and lower lashes with pearly Contour.

Guerlain is rich, tasteful and classic. Other cosmetic brands try to duplicate the sensibility and heritage that Guerlain possesses, but it's impossible. Guerlain is authentic…a true original. It's no secret that I am a huge Guerlain fan, and if the Spring 2008 collection is any indicator, I don't see that changing anytime soon!
